In abuse literature, there is a concept often described as DARVO (Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender), where the person accused of harmful behavior redirects attention toward the accuser. Whether or not a viewer accepts that interpretation, this journal entry clearly records my perception that the accusation served to redirect scrutiny away from the reasons I left.
These pages are consistent with my protest art that uses language, confrontation, and discomfort to examine power, coercion, reputation, and the rewriting of events. The controversy is not accidental—it is part of the mechanism by which the work forces engagement with the question it is asking. A critique of narrative control: who gets to define the story after a relationship ends, and what happens when one narrative eclipses another.
The accusation becomes the entire room. The abuse disappears behind it.
