Public Service Announcements (PSA), wild posting, also known as wheat pasting. Available at www.bugartnyc.com

"Noncommercial leaflet distribution is an essential right of the citizenry."

I consider this series an act of public intervention and protest against intimate partner violence, informed by my own lived experience.

The posters incorporate actual text messages containing threats, intimidation, and coercive tactics, alongside photographs documenting the destruction of my home after I fled violence and refused to return. These materials are not reenactments or fictional narratives. They are evidence of patterns of abuse that often remain hidden from public view.

By placing these works in public spaces throughout Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan, I seek to interrupt the silence that frequently surrounds intimate partner violence and coercive control. Wheat-pasting allows the work to exist outside traditional galleries and institutions, creating opportunities for unexpected encounters and public dialogue.

Each poster contains a QR code linking to educational resources about coercive control, warning signs of abuse, safety planning, and pathways to support. The goal is not simply to tell a personal story, but to transform lived experience into public knowledge that may help others recognize abuse, seek support, or better understand the realities faced by survivors.

The telling of survivor stories is essential. What remains hidden cannot be examined, understood, or prevented. Awareness creates understanding. Understanding creates accountability. Accountability is prevention.
